Marathas later renovated it in the 17th century.
Temple’s architecture resembles the nearby Lingaraja Temple, featuring intricate Vaishnavite sculptures and longitudinal shikharas with beautiful carvings. It consists of a three-chambered frontal adjunct: the Jagamohana, Natamandira, and Bhogamandapa, adorned with numerous miniature shrines and longitudinal bands.
Janmashtami, celebrating Lord Krishna’s birth, is the most significant festival here. Thousands of devotees flock to offer sweets, butter, milk, curd, incense, clothes, and flowers. The temple is beautifully decorated with flowers and lights, and the air is filled with devotional music and chants.
