The dome’s hollow interior can accommodate up to 5,000 people, making it a unique structure compared to the solid Sanchi Stupa. The stupa has four ornate gates, crafted with Rajasthani marble, depicting the Four Noble Truths of Buddhism, along with carvings of the Dhammachakra, lions, elephants, and horses. The ground floor houses a 211 x 211-foot hall with a sandalwood Buddha statue, donated by Thai students at Nagpur University. A library and photo exhibition showcase the lives of Buddha and Dr. Ambedkar.
The stupa is surrounded by a lush garden maintained by the Nagpur Improvement Trust, featuring a Bodhi Tree planted in 1968 with saplings from the sacred Bodhi Tree in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. Additional facilities include a Buddha Vihara with a bronze Buddha statue, a marble column with Ambedkar’s 22 vows, and the Preamble to the Indian Constitution.
